Phil Reedy
Area Director
I love Jesus, and I love being a husband to my lovely wife, Meghan, and father to our daughter, Emilia. We also are excited to have another little one who should be arriving September 2024. As a preacher’s kid, I was raised in a Christian home and grew up knowing about Jesus. At age 4, I committed my life to Christ, but it wasn’t until age 16 that I had to make that relationship with him my own. I’ve always loved sports – especially baseball. After high school, I continued my baseball career at Greenville College (now University) and then later coached baseball at the college level and worked in college admissions.
My first experience with FCA was in high school at a multi-sport huddle. We were a rag tag group of kids that wanted a space to meet and talk about Jesus freely. After high school, an FCA huddle didn’t start at Greenville College until I was almost graduated, so I was not heavily involved. However, the local FCA staff person at that time, Luke Hohlt and I had established a relationship while I was playing baseball and he talked to me about the ministry of FCA for a few years. It wasn’t until two years into the workforce God cultivated that the seed Luke had sown years earlier. I came on staff in July of 2019. God is faithful!
In the time that I have been on staff with FCA, the Lord has been so generous, faithful and present. I served as an Area Representative from July 2019-July 2023. Coaches huddles, campus huddles, games, camps, fundraising events, coach and spouse ministry, donor ministry, and more have all revealed more and more of the goodness of God. Over the summer, I felt called to and stepped into the Area Director role for South Central IL FCA. This role has been a challenging and humbling experience, but I’m so thankful for my current role as Area Director. I love serving our staff and volunteers and seeing the ministry to the world of sport continue to grow.
The platform of sports is a worldwide connector. Sports can both reveal and build character. Coaches influence every one of their players and that influence can last a lifetime. I know from experience the impact that a bad coach and a great coach can have on an individual. Sports are the perfect place to share and live out the Gospel and I am so thankful for the ministry of FCA to be outlet to do that. Join us on our mission to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and HIS Church!
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
