Meet Andy Benes
We are honored to welcome Andy Benes as the keynote speaker for the Vermilion Valley FCA Victory Dessert Fundraiser. A man of deep faith and remarkable achievements, Andy Benes boasts a distinguished career as a 14-year Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher, earning All-Star accolades and an Olympic Gold Medal in 1988, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.
Born on August 20, 1967, in Evansville, Indiana, Benes' journey in professional baseball began when he was selected first overall in the 1988 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. His career unfolded as a testament to skill, resilience, and, most importantly, how his relationship with God influenced not only his career on the mound but also his role as a husband and father.
Beyond the realm of athletics, Andy Benes is deeply involved in fostering the next generation of athletes. As the owner of the STL Prospects Baseball Club, he actively contributes to the development of young talent, instilling not only the skills of the game but also the values of integrity, discipline, and faith.
